Businesses in Hope, AR
- Restaurants and dining. Nobody asks us about anything more often than where to eat. Festival week in August fills the dining rooms early; a call-in order beats a wait. Barbecue and catfish dominate around town. Mexican kitchens and a couple of coffee shops stay busy year-round.
- Retail and shops. The railroad built this town, and the shopping blocks downtown face the tracks. Gift shops and antique dealers hold those storefronts. Out on the highway, farm and ranch stores sell feed by the pallet.
- Healthcare. Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center carried the Wadley name until 2024, when its corporate owner went bankrupt. The 48-bed hospital nearly closed for good. Pafford bought the license; the city and the county bought the building. Clinics, pharmacies, dentists and home health agencies take up the rest of the heading.
- Automotive. Most of the car lots and tire bays are on the way out to the interstate. Body shops and parts counters back them up. Travelers off I-30 land here too; the next town of any size is thirty miles in either direction.
- Banking and finance. Branch banks and credit unions share the category with the insurance agencies and tax offices. A few have held the same downtown corners for generations.
- Real estate. Agents in Hope sell more than houses. Hunting tracts, timberland, hay ground and the odd commercial building change hands through the same offices.
- Attorneys and professional services. Hempstead County recorded deeds before Arkansas became a state. Old land means careful title work. Law offices, title companies, surveyors and engineers practice within a few blocks of the courthouse.

- Lodging and travel. Motels cluster at the I-30 exits. Festival weekend books them out weeks ahead. Historic Washington State Park, nine miles northwest on Highway 278, sends overnight visitors through Hope the rest of the year.
