The Hope/Hempstead
County Chamber of Commerce has three Bluegrass
events each year. All three are free events and
feature national, regional, and local Bluegrass
acts. The winter Bluegrass show is held in
February. The Bluegrass Festival is generally
Mother's Day week-end in May, and the fall show is
in November.
Kenny and Amanda Smith to be featured at
Festival
The Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of
Commerce will hold its 14th annual Free Bluegrass
FestivalSaturday,
May 8th from 1 to 9 pm,in
Hope's Fair Park. The festival will be held outside on
theBancorpSouthStage.
In case of rain it will be moved into theFair
Park Community Center. Admission is free.

Smith.The

for Rebel Records and received the "Emerging Artist"
award from theInternational
Bluegrass Music Associationin
2003.Kenny
Smithwas
previously with the Lonesome River Band before he and
his wife Amanda teamed up to form their own band in
2001. The team has been nominated for both Dove Awards
andGrammy
Awards.
The festival will also feature
several regional bands including the popular
Hartley Family fromArkadelphia,
High Mountain Grass from Magnolia and Hope's Hempstead
County Melody Boys.

Fair Park is located offstate
Highway174
South. 6 blocks south of US 67. The park can be accessed
off Park Drive or Jones Street. Those attending should
bring their lawn chairs. Aconcession

products.
